4 rounds.

Technical questions:

  1. Design a widget which displays best selling products in every category/subcategory.
    • Products could be different depending on locations
  2. Low level design of Amazon Locker
  3. Leetcode 1834. Single-Threaded CPU
  4. Strong Password Checker
    • After the standard leetcode question, the interviewer augmented the question with additional requirements like check for common passwords. He asked questions around how would you store these common passwords effectively but did not ask me to write code around this requirement.

Each round consists of a LP/Behavioural section.

Verdict: Pending

Personal Opinions:

  • The division of time b/w LP and technical is 50/50 so do not ignore this section of preparation.
  • It felt like the System Design Interviewer was out there to "get me". In no shape or form were they willing to give hints in places i was stuck and it felt like they were just waiting for me to say the wrong thing before they pounce on me. They got this opportunity when i discussed caching and my thoughts around this. They started asking questions even before i could finish my thoughts and their tonality changed significantly. By the end, I felt like I'm in an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares.
  • I had a plesant experience with the rest of the 3 interviewers.
  • Overall, I think the decision will not go my way since
    • my proposed system design was not good
    • my fourth round code did not satisfy all criterion of the strong password checker.
  • Lastly, if you're giving multiple interview loops, I strongly recommend keeping Amazon as one of the latter ones as some of their staff is absolutely capable of destroying your confidence.
