Phone screen for senior full-stack engineer. The interview was conducted in a buggy Amazon Chime. It didn't work in a browser, so had to dial-in using my cell phone, was 5 mins late because of that.

First part contained standard Amazon behavioral question (customer obsession, leadeship, etc.).

Second part was a problem very similar to Max Area of Island. With the only difference in that each land cell contained a population number. The ask was to calculate the population of largest island by area.

I've solved the qustion with an optimal dfs approach relatively quickly. Follow-up was to think about any other alternative approaches. Interviewer wanted to hear BFS, but I didn't mention it and that was enough to receive a rejection afterwards.
