[UPDATED] Nordstrom [Engineer 1] | ONSITE | Unique List

Hey everyone,

OA:
Given two lists of strings, return if list 1 contains anything in list 2. Really simple question but a terrible coding interface that is quite confusing. They have some starter code. I strongly advise to NOT delete that starter code as it reads some in-built test cases from the console and passes them to you as a variable to work with.

ONSITE:
Mid January I have a Nordstrom final onsite that is 4 rounds and 50 minutes each. Anyone have any idea what to expect in terms of leetcode questions that I should prep, or even better some questions y'all have gotten during their onsite.

I will update this post with some information after my onsite for future candidates to reference as it seems there is not a lot out there about nordstrom onsite.

Any responses are appreciated. Also happy new years coders and best of luck on all your future interviews!

Thanks,

EDIT:
4round x 55 mins interviews:

  • Leetcode easy array problem with expectation of optimal solution
    • Not saying question to maintain anonyminity.
  • Basic Sys Design
    • design forum post and comment feature
  • Code design and debugging interview
    • ~100 lines of code is given
    • Make edits to how you would rather write that body of really janky code out
      • Keep an eye out for weird casing, bad variable names, highlight lines of code that make 0 sense to someone who did not write the code. Ensure brackets and semi colons are present.
    • Lastly interviewers mentioned a bug in the code
    • High level talk about how to improve performance and what are key metrics.

Difficulty scale: 5/10
