I just completed the phone screen interview (live coding) and there were two questions.

45 minutes in total: 5 minutes intro and 20 minutes for each question.

O1. LC easy string - I cleared it with a good explanation. It was not perfect but I improved it with the advice.

O2. LC medium trees - I was not able to complete the code, but I wrote most of it with the advice that I got. I explained what I wrote and also presented my plan to solve it.

We did not talk about time complexity of my algorithms. I was busy explaining my thought process, so I forgot to mention time complexity and also interviewer did not ask either. But I think I should mentioning the time complexity in the next round of interview.

I thought I failed but I am moving forward to VO. It took a couple of days to get feedback.

Here are what I did during the interview:

  • Broke down my thought process as much as possible and also tried my best to explain it clearly.
  • Before jumping into the problem, if there was something that is not clear or not sure, I asked questions to make sure that I am on the right track.
  • There were a few moments when I figured that what I was doing is not going to work. I explained why that approach did not work and presented what will work.
  • Developed my thought based on the advice.

Good luck to you guys.
