I used the iterative method in the first not the recursive approach since I had feeling we would move onto merge K sorted list which generally requires the heap solution. Unfortunately, I was using a newer head set and my iphone would go into the mute and so he could not listen to my explaination of the solution. But anyways I did not move onto the next phase, even though my solution is correct.
