Bloomberg Phone + Onsite - New Grad NYC (Reject)

Posting it because looking at these kinds of posts helped me before.

Applied around November 2020 and received a phone interview after a month. I usually spent my time building side projects or contributing to open source (basically learning new technology) so I never studied leetcode before. I started doing Leetcode only after I knew I will be getting a phone interview from Bloomberg.

Phone Interview:

  1. https://leetcode.com/problems/number-of-islands/
  2. https://leetcode.com/problems/find-bottom-left-tree-value/

Receiving feedback saying will move to onsite on January and schedule an onsite today (24th Feb).

First round, with two people:

  1. https://leetcode.com/problems/valid-parentheses/
  2. https://leetcode.com/problems/meeting-rooms-ii/

Second round, with one senior engineer:

  1. https://leetcode.com/problems/trapping-rain-water/

Couldn't solve the trapping rain water since I focused on medium difficulty questions only :) (Basically told myself if I got a HARD question then I will 100% get f****ed ) so no HR interviews after my second round. Based on most of the posts, I think that would be an automatic rejection LOLOL

Tips:

  1. Don't get upset even if you get rejected, sometimes it's really based on whether you have done the questions or not. Not able to solve it does not make you a bad engineer.
  2. Like other posts said, there will be follow up questions, so you have to know what you are doing.
  3. Do Leetcode tag questions and try your best :)
