I applied to be Machine Learning Engineer at bytedance. There were about 160 applicants for this position on LinkedIn (only) so competition is tough.

That being said here is the interview process.

Round 1 some online coding assesement. 4 questions. First 3 questions were around easy/medium. Last question was around hard. I was able to first 3 but had no time for the last question. But still passed this round surpringly.

Round 2. An easy question of adding up numbers on a reversed linked list. Just use sum and carry solution.

Round3. Was Maximum sliding window question. This is a leetcode hard questions and I was not able to do it in O(N) time.

Overall I felt throughout the interview process, the interviewer was not intersested in skills related to machine learning as there were 0 machine learning questions. I think someone who took a crash course in machine learning and grinded leetcode all the way might get hired. I wonder if that's the same for other companies as well can you guys share experiences?
