Resume Screening
I applied through their website and I went through the university recruiting program. I think the hiring manager for the applied research intern position went through the resumes and selected candidates for interviews. After that screening, I was invited to the final stage: video interview (because of COVID I believe).
Video Interview
It was a 60 minute interview with the hiring manager and two other engineers on the team. 48 hours before the interview I was given a task and asked to present the task in a 20 minute presentation during the interview. I was also asked to share all the files via a github repo.
Task: Given women's e-commerce Kaggle dataset, predict the reviewer’s birth decade (90’s, 80’s, 00’s, etc) using only text features.
Details:
Prepare a 20 minutes presentation that shows the complete machine learning engineering process. From data exploration to training, evaluation and how would you scale your solution for billions of items.
After I gave the presentation, they asked me several questions regarding the task. Mostly, about my approach and how I can improve. There were no questions about my experiences or questions from my resume.
