Sharing my interviewing experience with Amazon for a Senior Dev role. I had a technical the phonescreen and was rejected. I was asked a single question which was somehing along the following lines:

  • Given a line segment (x1,y1) -> (x2,y2) . You need to find all the points where it intersects the X and Y axis.

At the face of it, the question seemed doable and I was able to come up with a near right solution. But on the way while solving it, I had to do mutliple corrections which I guess did not play well. There were boundry conditions which I realized during the process of solving it and perhaps the expectation was to think them through beforehand.

To summarize, I feel in a non-interview setup, I could have coded the solution much better unlike an interview situation in which I have to constantly interact about what I am thinking which sort of unnerved me and diminished my capacity to code as well as I would have done in ordinary circumstances.
