Had an interview with Bloomberg for a SWE position in August. Received Rejection the day after.

Brief Timeline:

  1. submitted application via LinkedIn (redirected to Bloomberg job portal) in the late July;
  2. contacted by the recruiter for the 1st phone-screen about a week later;
  3. scheduled the initial phone-screen for August;
  4. had phone-screen, received hiring decision (rejection) the next day.

Personal experience:

  1. The interviewer seemed to have some issue to understand me (due to her phone connection issue?);
  2. Due to the above issue, the white boarding session was overall confusing for both of us..
  3. for example: I would explain my thoughts/my plan, and she gives me confirmation; but when I started to code it out, she asked me why I made that decision (imply I did it wrong, or not knowing where my logic is heading..)...
  4. When asked her questions (as an interviewee) to learn more about the company. The interviewer was having a hard time to gather information/organize her thoughts and used many+many filter words like "umm..", "ehh..."

Interview Questions (I was asked to answer 2 problems):

  1. One of the problems was causing many cofusions between us. As she was trying to explain the question to me, but getting cut off on the phone at the same time... I barely understood what she said..
  2. We switched to a different problem, and I was able to solve that with expected time/space complexity.
  3. Then we moved back to the first one. Some progress was made, but we weren't able to write a function to fully solve the problem.

Summary:
Overall, I would say it was an OK interview experience. I have experienced better interviewers.
