Two decades of experience, cleared 200 LC questions before the on-site, AWS certified.

Online Assessment + Phone Screen back in April, Virtual On Site in June

Lessons Learnt:

  1. 4 rounds of algorithms questions all together, all LC medium questions, one round OOD, one round SD
  2. LP questions, make sure you prepare THREE examples for each principle, this happened twice in my on-site, make me wonder they were trying to make sure I could not perform better.
  3. Programming Language of choice, if you could avoid using C# for coding, then you perhaps should, most interviewer were either Java, Python or JavaScript programmers.
  4. People often ask how many LC question is "enough", hindsight, if you are newly minted graduates from school, 100-150 perhaps enough, otherwise 200 perhaps barely enough.
  5. Perhaps because I was certified last year-I didn't spent time re-reading the whitepapers before the interviews, but in the SD round I was grilled directly by someone who knows the inner workings of AWS, did poorly in this round and ultimately failed in this effort. So watch out for this kind of situation should you be in the same boat.
  6. Know how to use the conference software well.

Six months spent on AWS certifications then 4-5 more months preparing for the interview, unfortunately luck might not be on your side. If you could, don't quit your day job just for preping FAANNG interviews....or until you cleared 400 LC questions.

Last I would like to thank the LC community for the support, and wish what I wrote help someone else.

Soldier on!!!
