Recently went through the hiring process at ZL Tech for the Software Engineer role (Tier-1 college). Sharing the overall experience to help future candidates.
🧠 Selection Process
There were 4 rounds in total:
1️⃣ Aptitude Test
Duration: 16 minutes
Questions: 50
Cutoff: 40 correct answers
Only 39 candidates qualified this round
Speed and accuracy were extremely important
2️⃣ Online Technical Test (MCQs + Coding)
Standard DSA-based questions
Focus on problem-solving approach and correctness
3️⃣ Technical Interview – Round 1
DSA-focused discussion, including:
LCA in BST
Merge Sort
Rotten Oranges (minimum time problem)
Median in a data stream
Writing code for all the problems.
4️⃣ Technical Interview – Round 2
Number of ways to reach end of a grid (right, down moves)
Search in a rotated sorted array
OOP and DBMS conceptual questions
Discussion around internships and projects
📊 Final Outcome
17 candidates were shortlisted for interviews
7 candidates were finally selected
🤝 Interview Experience
Interviewers were friendly and supportive
They focused on clear thinking, problem approach, and time/space complexity
