I applied through the Workday career portal, and after 15 days a recruiter later reached out to schedule the interviews.
Round 1: Technical + Behavioral (45 minutes)
This round covered a broad range of topics:
Round 2: Object-Oriented Design / UML (1 hour)
Panel of two interviewers. Problem statement was based on Payments and Cards (Credit & Debit).
Tasks included:
Midway through the round, I was given two new requirements and asked to extend the existing design.
Towards the end, they asked questions, such as:
This round strongly focused on OO principles, design thinking.
Round 3: Architecture Interview (1 hour)
A deep dive into:
Round 4: Xpresso / XO Demo (30 minutes)
A Workday engineer gave a demo of Xpresso (XO), their in-house language used for development.
While explaining the language, the interviewer evaluated: My ability to understand new technologies quickly, Conceptual clarity. Parallelly, I was also asked Java-related questions.
You have to keep this round interactive and asking questions.
Round 5: Behavioral / Leadership (1 hour)
Interview with a Director at Workday
Entirely focused on:
I was asked to answer every question using real examples from my Past projects and Professional experience.
This round heavily tested ownership, impact, and values alignment.
Final Outcome
Around 10 days after the final round, I received an offer for
Senior Associate Software Development Engineer.
all the 5 interviews took 1 month to complete.
