A recruiter reached out to me through Naukri for a Testing Automation / QA role. Since this was the start of my interview journey, I agreed to proceed with the interview.
The interviewer began by asking about my current role and responsibilities. After understanding my background, he asked whether I was sure about interviewing for this role, mentioning that it was a testing/QA position and not a development role.
Yes. The interviewer felt that my experience was more inclined toward development and questioned whether this interview was appropriate for the role, implying that there might be a mismatch in expectations.
I was asked a LeetCode Hard problem during the interview, which was conducted on HackerRank:
LeetCode 224 – Basic Calculator
I was given a real-world debugging scenario:
A system that was working correctly earlier is now failing during file upload.
Follow-up questions included:
What are the possible causes for this failure?
How would you go about identifying the root cause?
What tools, logs, or monitoring mechanisms would you use to trace the issue?
Yes, one logic-based puzzle was asked toward the end of the interview.
I was not able to solve the coding problem during the interview.
Later, the recruiter shared feedback stating that I was not suitable for this particular QA role.
