Hi Team I gave interview at linkedin for software engineer-applications position (felt like sharing)
I directly applied on linkedin recruiter reached out to me in month end of august ,so asked her to schedule the interview in month of september
(if you pass phone screen round all other rounds would be scheduled)
Phone screen round : (eliminatory round)
1. similar cinemall hall seat allocation
2. reverse nested weight list sum
(introduction + what would you improve in current project )
1st one was similar to can-place-flowers solved it in 15 minutes
with dry running and all took around total 25 minutes
then
2nd question was new to me kinda struggled to come up with solution
initially was proposing two times traversal, interviewer said no
i kinda got confused when he said only one traversal is needed
, so couldn't think of using map for depth approach
then in last minute after getting hint i instantly solved in 5 minutes with remaining 5 minutes to walk through , couldn't dry run it, but i believe that was optimal solution as interviewer said looks good to me
Gotta call after 5 days for onsite rounds
asked her to schedule system design round to last
Coding Round 1:
- medium-hard stack problem couldn't find similar problem on leetcode (something of inclusive and exclusive times of nested list of strings with timestamps)
- similar to Paint House I
- similar follow up with Paint House II
in the first question kinda struggled to solve this but solved in
different way that interviewer was expecting solved by stack only ,
it was working on test cases it took me around 30-40 minutes for 1st Question.
2nd was similar to paint house 1 solved it in 5-10 minutes
then he gave me follow up for the same for k colors
as 3rd was for k colors i discussed O(N*K) time and O(K) space complexity
approach then he asked me to write down the code couldn't complete whole code he had one doubt in one line in code but i believe that shouldn't have been problem
Coding Round 2 :
- similar to course-schedule-II
- similar to max-consecutive-ones-III
with mulitple follow ups - find-the-leaves-of-binary-tree
first two questions i solved within 45 minutes
kinda struggled for 3rd question , then was able to come up with optimal solution but only 5 minutes were remaining didn't had time to write down the code
Round 3: Technical communication
explain the project you have done in detail i picked one and discussed what we did what my role was
I am not sure how to rate this round
Round 4: Host Leader(HM)
Discussed about what are you working on
some behevioral questions
also gave problem how would you approach as team lead and all
in the end i asked about feedback he said good only
Round 5: System Design Calendar
I was very nervous about this round , I already had messed System design rounds before at other company
But this went good i answered follow ups and explained my approach
All rounds took place in september with 1-2 days of gap
last round being on 18th september
- Haven't received any feedback yet kinda loosing hope now
- i was really expecting offer
- i tried to reach out to them but no response
- what do you think will i be getting the offer
edit: first coding round and system design wasn't upto marks
(recruiter mentioned after reaching out over a call)
