I applied directly on their career website. The role was - Developer Associate - Java Full Stack - for the Procurements team. I got an email from an AI recruiter 1.5 weeks later asking to choose a slot for the first interview. One thing to notice was that there were no calendar invites for any round, so we ought to keep track of the interviews by ourselves.

Technical Round 1 - 45 minutes

This interview was taken by a person similar to my experience. It did not feel like a formal interview, but rather a casual conversation. We discussed on the work I was currently doing, the project architecture, some questions on Redis, resume-based, Spring Boot exception handling, dependency injection, DFS/BFS algorithm on graphs, and so on. Lastly, he spoke on the team for which they were hiring and the company culture. Overall, I enjoyed it.

I got an email later in the day from the AI recruiter to choose the slot for the next round. The next round was scheduled for 2 days later.

Technical Round 2 - 45 minutes

A senior developer drove this interview. I began with my introduction and was presented with 2 coding problems for which Java pseudocode was expected.

Q1. Second Largest Element in an Array (GFG)

Q2. Time Conversion (HackerRank)

Some technical questions were asked based on the resume:

  1. How did you optimise queries in databases?
  2. Difference between POST and PUT.
  3. Logging and distributed tracing.
  4. Asynchronous communication in microservices.

Ultimately, I asked about my role in the team, and she also shared her experience. Good interview experience here as well. The interviewer mentioned that she was testing mainly the logic, and it went well.

I got an email the next day from the AI recruiter to choose the slot for the next round. The next round was scheduled for 2 working days later.

Managerial Round - 45 minutes

This round was with the engineering manager. We began with our introductions. I was presented with a bunch of behavioural situations. At the end, we discussed on the team culture and what the expectations would be for the candidate joining. This round also went well.

  1. Tell me about a time when your manager and you had a different approach to solving a problem, and what you ultimately did.
  2. Suppose there is a handover of a component that you have been owning for a long time. What steps would you take during this process?
  3. Talk about a specific technical issue your colleague faced and how you helped them.
  4. How do you prioritise issues? How do you manage if there are issues that are of high priority to other teams but not to your team?
  5. Tell me about a time when you tried and realised you failed. What learnings did you incorporate?
  6. Talk briefly about your short and long-term goals.

I got an email the next day from the actual recruiter asking for some details and my availability for the offer discussion. The HR then replied that we would connect in 2 days.

HR Round - 30 minutes

A meeting was scheduled to discuss about the interview experience and offer expectations. The HR also asked me a couple of behavioural questions, such as the pros and cons of working remotely and from the office, cross-collaboration with other teams, etc. In the end, I asked a few questions about SAP role structure, relocation, onboarding, etc.

The next day, another interview was scheduled with the hiring manager.

HM Round - 30 minutes

This call was with the actual hiring manager to understand and talk more about the role and expectations, interview feedback, and to try to understand each other's perspectives so that we could agree on the offer. It was a fair discussion.

I received the letter of intent exactly after 1 week. Offer of employment was released within 2 days. The entire process took around 35-40 days.
