My Interview Experience at Tennr

Round 1 – Assessment Round

  • I received a take-home assessment that needed to be completed within approximately 48 hours.

Round 2 – Technical Interview (DSA | ~1 Hour)

Round 3 – Technical Interview (Resume Discussion + System Design | ~1 Hour)

  • The round began with a discussion about my previous work experience and personal projects.
  • I was asked to design a High-Level Design (HLD) for a Rate Limiter.
  • Follow-up questions included:
    • SQL vs NoSQL vs Redis
    • Differences between Docker and Virtual Machines
    • Asked about Kubernetes (I was honest that I hadn’t worked with it)
  • Some questions on assesment which was given on Round 1.

Round 4 – Interview with Solutions Architect (Managerial | ~30 Minutes)

  • I initially expected this to be another technical/system design round, but it turned out to be managerial.
  • The discussion included:
    • My background and project experience
    • Details about the role: which involved using a low-code platform to build solutions.
    • My motivation to apply for the Implementation Engineer role despite coming from a coding background.
    • How I approach learning and handling technologies I'm unfamiliar with.

My Thoughts

  1. The first three rounds went smoothly. I felt confident about my performance. The interviewers were friendly, greeted me with a smile, and kept their cameras on (unlike many interviews where you're talking to a blank screen).
  2. The final round, I had prepared for a system design round but faced managerial questions instead. While the interviewer was approachable and friendly, I sensed some concern about my transition from a purely coding background to an implementation-focused role. I tried to emphasize my willingness to learn and adapt.

Verdict: Rejected
