Karat Round: 5 System Design rapid-fire questions. 2 Coding questions — first was a variation of Two Sum, second was based on BFS. I was able to code and run the first question, but for the second we only discussed the approach because of time constraints.

Round 1: Code Design
We are managing a Customer Support service, where each Agent will get a rating from customers on a scale of 1–5 based on their performance. We need to maintain this information and return a list of agents based on their average rating in decreasing order.

Round 2: Data Structures
Given a hierarchy of organisation, departments, and employees, find the closest group (department) for a set of employees.

Round 3: HLD
The Popular Tagging System. Majority of the focus was on scaling tag-based search and popular tags.

Round 4: Management
Standard leadership questions and examples of projects where I had end-to-end ownership. In-depth discussion on how feature planning, requirement gathering, development, testing, and cross-team collaboration works in my current team.
Also 2–3 scenario-based questions, mainly focusing on mentorship/leadership and changing existing processes in my current organisation.

Round 5: Values
One question from each Atlassian value, with follow-ups to understand the scenarios in depth.

Self Verdict:
My Data Structures round went ok-ish as I was able to solve only the first part of the problem. It took me more time than expected, and in the end, there was no time left for follow-ups.
Also, the Management round was with one of the Senior Managers (previously worked at Meta). He didn’t seem very impressed with my answer to the first question, where I was asked to explain a feature with end-to-end ownership.

The rest of the interviews went well, and the interviewers seemed happy at the end.

Suggestion Needed
It’s been more than 2 weeks now, and the recruiter has not reached out to me about the next steps. But when I called, she picked up and said she is yet to receive the feedback from the last 2 rounds. I’ve heard that their process takes a lot of time.

Is there a chance I can be rejected or downgraded to P40?

Also, how long should I wait? I have other offers with joining dates in the next week?
