I have 3 years of experience and HR told me that I was considered for both Front End Engineer (FEE 1) and (FEE 2).
No behavioral Questions where asked in my Phone Interview.
The interview started with following techincal questions:

  1. What is difference between the block and inline elements?
  2. What is difference between Reflow and Repaint?
  3. How can you add a span element inside a div element using web APIs ?
  4. What are CSS preprocessors SASS/LESS used for?
  5. How event loop handles micro and macro tasks?
  6. What is the difference between Unit testing and Integration testing?
  7. How do you identify memory leaks in browser? (Interviewer told me that is an Open ended question)
  8. Final Question was how will you find all the prime numbers up to n? Optimize the prime number?

I hope, I have covered all the questions. I have gone through all the questions asked for a front end engineer on leetcode and glassdoor but few questions asked during my Phone interview were googlie for me.

I thought for FEE 1 they should have gauged my understanding of Javascript fundamentals such as closures, promises, prototypal inheritance etc. And I was expecting CSS fundamental questions such as *z-index, stacking context, positions, box-model etc. However, this was my first experience interviewing with Amazon. Throughout the interview I tried to remain calm and try to answer the questions in best possible way and finally tried to be honest about the topics I don't have idea about.

I'm grateful for this experience and I'm glad that I can share with you this information. And even if this helps a single person the purpose of this post would be achieved.

Anyways guys resources for Front End Engineers are quite less and this is a step towards contributing towards the betterment of Front end Engineer community. I would urge all Front-End Engineers to please post your interview experience as it helps other candidates who are seeking the role of Front-End Engineer.

If you guys know any pattern or resource to study for FEE position please mention in the comments below.
