Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and sent me an Online Assessment the next day.
After submitting the OA, the recruiter reached out for Virtual Onsite after 4 weeks.
• Round 1(Potential Teammate): The round went well.
30 mins LP
20 mins code- The problem was about partitioning the string. I was able to solve it.
5 mins Reverse Interview
• Round 2 (Bar Raiser): This was my worst round. It seemed like the interviewer had already decided not to hire me (could be done deliberately to intimidate me). We were going over LPs for over 40 minutes, after that he gave me a medium problem to discuss in 10 minutes.
40 mins LP
10 mins code – n page sequence in log file. I had not solved this type of question before so it took me 5 minutes to understand the requirements and the round ended without a solution.
Hardly any time left for Reverse Interview
• Round 3 (Potential Teammate): I was able to solve the problem and optimize it (Easy/Medium Tree)
40 mins Code
10 mins LP
5 mins Reverse Interview
• Round 4 (Manager): System Design
40 mins discussion: Was asked to design an internal amazon feature. Had a good discussion and was able to provide a solution. I wasn’t sure if he liked it.
15 mins LP
5 mins Reverse Interview
Prep:
Coding: LC Easy-82, Medium-95, Hard-23
Cracking the Coding Interview (Highly recommended)
LPs: Prepared 2-3 stories for each principle. This is very important, almost 50% of the time in interviews is spent on these. Know your story thoroughly, they counter question every time.
System Design: YouTube Videos
Other than the Bar Raiser, it was a good experience. This was my third reject in 2 years, it is frustrating because we give the prep a lot of time and energy and then one bad interview will decide on your fate! Nevertheless, will keep on trying!
