Uber | SWE II, iOS | Canada | Onsite | Rejected

About me:
3 YOE, Laid off

Position: SWE II, iOS (Airports)

Phone Screen:

Given a binary matrix, determine if the matrix is sorted
Follow up: assume matrix is sorted, find the first column containing 1.

Questions about protocols in iOS

Solved both easily. Moved to Onsite

Onsite:

Round 1: Live coding. Give a weather app, implement some tableView methods, async functions, etc.

Had a bit of a brain fart midway in but figured it out. We got about 80% of the project.

Round 2: Behavioural. Standard behavioural Questions

Round 3: DSA

https://leetcode.com/problems/squares-of-a-sorted-array/description/?envType=company&envId=uber&favoriteSlug=uber-thirty-days

Discussing how a heap worked.

Follow up - after getting the array, determine the kth smallest value

Solved both, but they did go deep into tradeoffs and design decisions, but was able to successfully answer questions

Round 4: System Design: Chat app. Interviewer stayed quiet the entire time, occasionally coming in to verify why I was making design decisions

One day later, recieved news that I was not moving forward. Will update once I recieve detailed feedback, but my loop had no major cons, so I suspect that the standards are pretty high and competitive and any small mistakes will be punished.
