Expedia SDE-2 Interview Experience | Rejected

Hi, I recently applied for the SDE-2 role at Expedia through a referral and was invited to complete an Online Assessment (OA). Below is a detailed breakdown of the interview process:

Online Assessment (OA)
The OA consisted of the following three questions:

Greedy Problem: Fully solved
OOP-based Problem: Fully solved
Bipartite Graph Problem: Partially solved

Recruiter Call
Following the OA, I had a call with the recruiter in which we discussed basic details such as my current CTC, notice period, and other relevant information. The recruiter mentioned that, if I cleared the subsequent DSA rounds, I would be scheduled for the Design and Hiring Manager (HM) rounds.

DSA Round 1 : Got Female Interviewer, she was quite friendly and supportive. Asked her to use pen and paper for approach to which she aggred

Q1: Encryption-related problem (solved)
Q2: Greedy problem (solved)

Platform: CoderPad (with full test cases)
Additional Discussion: At the end of the round, we had a formal conversation about the team structure and the technology stack used at Expedia.

DSA Round 2 Interviewer: Female, had a very harsh tone (from a WITCH company background—check through her LinkedIn, and also now become a Topmate queen)
Q1: Greedy problem related to contiguous subarrays (she asked for an optimal solution right away, no brute force). I asked her that can I use pen and paper for approach she denied. I fumbled here, as I couldn’t come up with the optimal approach immediately. The interviewer became quite impatient, raised her voice, made strange faces, and smiled sarcastically, showing frustration. She then moved on to the next question.
Q2: Dictionary-related problem (solved in the remaining time).
Platform: CoderPad

Result: Rejected (As expected)

Pro Tip

  • Be cautious when dealing with managers from WITCH companies or Interviewer/individuals affiliated with Topmate.
  • I provided detailed feedback about the interviewer to the Expedia recruitering team in both the US and India, although the recruiter after the interview hasn't been picking my phone (as expected).
