There were a total of three rounds:
-
Machine Coding Round (React.js) – This round lasted 1.5 hours. I was asked to create a reusable dropdown component with search functionality. The focus was on making it modular and reusable, with several follow ups around performance optimization, especially for handling large datasets.
-
Hiring Manager Round – This round was intended to last 1 hour but ended in 45 minutes. The interviewer explained the role and team structure, primarily discussing my current and past work. Few questions based on my resume and reason to join Razorpay.
-
UI Tech / Web Fundamentals / JavaScript Round – The interviewer asked me to explain one of my past projects, the technical challenges I faced, and the reasoning behind my technical decisions. Throughout the discussion, there were multiple follow-up questions. Later, they asked in-depth Web Fundamentals questions (e.g., Service Workers, CORS, CRP, REST API, HTTP caching, JavaScript script loading etc.). We also discussed how to create a custom hook that returns true if a component is mounted and false otherwise. In the end, I was asked to explain all the React hooks I knew.
