Hi All,
Recently had an interivew OCI USA for Senior Software Engineer role. Hope this helps.
Phone-Screen:
After the recruiter has reached out, he has arranged for a phone screen.
Phone-screen: Had intro with the interviewer. He has asked few leadership/ behavioural questions. Once that is done, he has jumped into coding questions. It's not a leetcode question.
Given a random string, you need to sort that in <lower_case alphabets>followed by<upper_case alphabets>.
Got to the solution with some extra time. Then asked him questions about OCI.
Got the result mail from recruiter but, he has mentioned that the final onsite could take after 2-3 months. After few weeks he has asked me to schedule the onsite and I planned it in 3rd week of January and it's 4 round interview.
Round 1 and Round 4(Coding): It's a straight forward coding round. After couple of behavioural questions they have asked a coding question.
The interviwers are really professional and I had great time.
Round 2: Bar-tender round.
The interviewer is not from same team. He is bit impatient and he stops me very frequently. I believe he was pre-determined. This was really bad interview I have recently faced. Even while I was asking a question at the end he was not in a position to listen and respond. I don't whether this is a pattern or something I have observed. Most of the Indian interviewers take interview in a pre-determined way assuming the other guy is dumb if he is indian as well.
Now about the interview. It's a behavioural with most of the focus on our previous projects and a LLD questions from those.
Round 3: Hiring Manager
Directly moved to my previuos experiences and asked me to design a Caching system. I have choosed LRU implementation. We had a back and forth conversation. At some point I felt he is bit dumb. I mentioned that cache is a Database and he was very relactant on this and kept asking me whether I'm sure that a cache is a DB.
At the end, I had good experience in coding interviews wrt interiewers but the bar-tender round was the worst and cemented my opinion on how indian interviewers conduct interview if the interviewee was indian as well.
Final Result: Reject(Got this very quickly).
