I recently interviewed at Wayfair for a SDE 2 opening.
There were 4 rounds in total.
Online coding assessment on hackerrank. This had 2 coding questions (easy) and 1 sql query (medium-hard).
I could only do 2 coding questions.
Got a call for next round.
This was a machine coding round. The interviewer presents a coding question on hackerrank again with 13 testcases. It was shipment and package management. You can easily find it in some other discussions. I would say do not over engineer your solution. workd with basic solution unless the interviewer wants something more.
This was LLD round. Very common wayfair Bike rental question. I was expected to come up with class diagram, schema diagram and API design. The interviwer questioned a lot of decisions I made and I wasn't able to defend them nicely. Also he didn't seem very happy with my api design as I was using query params a lot maybe.
Got a call from HR after 2 days that feedback from machine coding round was very good but LLD was not satisfactory. You can apply again after 4 months.
One thing I'd like to mention is unlike a lot of other posts who had bad experience working with wayfair HR/recruiters,
I had a very pleasant experience. He was very supportive and was nice enough to say that we can keep in touch if you would like to apply again after 4 months.
