I applied via a referral and received an invite for the first round shortly after.
Round 1: Machine Coding Round
Duration: 1.5 hours
The task was to implement an application similar to Instagram with the following features:
- Users could follow influencers, other users, or specific hashtags.
- Functionalities included creating posts, liking, commenting, and displaying a personalized feed based on the users and hashtags being followed.
The focus was on writing clean, modular, and extensible code while ensuring that the application mimicked Instagram's core features.
Round 2: System Design Round
Duration: 1 hour
In this round, the interviewer (a Prinicpal Engineer) asked me to explain the architecture, high-level design (HLD), and low-level design (LLD) of any project I had worked on in my professional experience.
Although I tried to explain the design thoroughly and provided justifications for my choices, the interviewer seemed unsatisfied with my explanation, citing gaps in clarity and depth.
Verdict: Rejected ❌
