Status: New grad, B.E. CSE 2024 batch (Offcampus)
Previous experience: 2 internships (2 + 6 months)
Position: Graduate application developer
Location: India
Date: Nov 2024
I reached out to a ThoughtWorks employee on LinkedIn and applied with a referral.
There were 4 rounds:
Round 1: HackerRank Test
Round 2: Code Pairing
Round 3: Technical Interview
Round 4: Leadership & Cultural Alignment Interview
Round 1: HackerRank Test (75 min)
4 coding questions: 2 easy, 2 medium. Questions tested the candidate's logical reasoning.
A week after my test, I received an email stating that I had been selected for the next round. I was asked to select a 90-min slot for the code pairing round.
Round 2: Code Pairing Interview (90 min)
The problem statement for this round was shared an hour before my interview. I had to clone the repository, run it in my environment, and understand the problem.
Overall, the problem wasn’t particularly difficult, but what they were focused on was how well you follow SOLID principles and apply OOP concepts. The key was to effectively use classes and design principles.
The day after my interview, I received an email saying I would be proceeding to the next round. It was scheduled for the following day.
Round 3: Technical Interview (65 min)
This one-on-one session dives into your project experience, OOPs knowledge, data structures, and problem-solving abilities.
A week after my interview, I received a email saying I was proceeding to the final HR round.
Round 4: Leadership & Cultural Alignment Interview (50 min)
This final round went beyond resumes and websites. They wanted to understand my perspective and aspirations. After the initial introductions, I was shown a PPT slide with 25 cards. I had to pick a card, and each card had a scenario behind it. I picked around 5-6 cards and discussed the situations, using the Situation, Task, Action, and Result (STAR) method to answer.
For this round, just be yourself and share your story.
Four days after this round, I received a call from HR stating that I was selected and asking a few questions regarding the joining process.
Each interview was scheduled with two ThoughtWorkers, who were helpful and supportive throughout the process.
For preparation, I mainly read past interview experiences on LeetCode and GFG.
Overall, it was a great learning experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. All the best to anyone preparing for similar interviews—stay confident, and keep practicing!
Hope this helps.
