I got call from recruiter regarding Paypal hiring for Android sde2.

Recruiter sent me the link for the job role to apply.

There were total of 5 rounds.

Round 1 : OA
After getting call from recruiter same day I received the OA link and same day I finished the OA.

I had to scroe more than 70 out of 100 to clear this round for further interviews.

  1. There were 2 DSA questions (Easy to Medium level leetcode questions).
  2. There were 10 Android related questions (mostly Kotlin) mcqs and find the error.

I got call from recruiter the next day regarding that I have cleared this round HR will contact me for further intnerviews.

Round 2 : DSA
I was asked 2 questions.

  1. Easy stack question related to balance paranthesis. I was able to do this question in 5 mins and then ther was a discussion on why I used this appraoch and time complexity sapce complexity.
  2. Hard graph question related to finding minimum of maximum distance between any two of two graphs each. I was able to explain my approach thoroughly but I was not able to write the complete code as it took me some time to think of how to do it.(Didn't had much practice with graph questions and also I was almost out of time.)

but I was able to clear this round because my apprach was correct and I was able to cover all the edge cases in my approach.

Round 3 : System Design
I was given some blocks each representing a particular service and I was asked to complete the system design for payment.
I was prepared for this round and nailed it. This round was more of a discussion and interviewer was very chill.
Interviewer was really impressed at the end and I had confidence that I have cleared this round.

Round 4 : Android

  1. Android fundamentals -> After quick introduction and interviewer asked some android related questions from my work experience that I mentioned in my resume.
  2. Then he jumped into android error handling and how to prevent apps from crashing. I was given one scenario where app is crashing and I asked to identify the issue and how to resolve it.
  3. Then I was given another scenario it was kindof a POST request (let's say simple login request also returns success or failure message) and I was asked to write what all classes are required for this and what will be the role of each class. I created a MVVM architecture structure for the post request using some interfaces, data class, enums, retrofit, view model and stuff. Then he asked me to explain the complete flow of one such post request and asked few questions like why I'm using retrofit and not other libs etc.

This round went really well as I had my android fundamentals clear.

Roound 5 : HM round
Hiring manager round is same in almost all companies. General situation based and behavioural questions example tell me about a time where you had to make a critical decision and things like that.

This round also went well.

Each round was disqualifying round.
Each interview happened after 1 week except the HM round it took place just 3 days after 4th round.
I'm pretty sure I have cleared the last round as well because the interviewer was really happy at the end of the round.

Yet to receive final call from Recruiter. Will update the compensation and final call here.
The role is for Chennai location.

Also I have few questions :

  1. Do Paypal give 100% work from home? If yes, is it team specific or anyone can get it? I read at many places that Paypal still gives 100% WFH.
  2. Does Paypal provides breakfast/lunch at office premise at Chennai?
  3. Also I saw in some offer discussions that they give INR 1200 per month (seems negligible) for food and travel so that's it what they give for food and do not provide lunch at office premise or how is it?
