I feel this post might help people who are interviewing at amazon. I have taken some of my time to post my experience.

Online assessment:(Mar 17)

Phone screen:(Mar 31)

  • 2 LP questions with LC medium coding question on graph. Interviewer seemed professional

Round 1:
Interviewer Joined Late

  • 20+ min behavior questions

  • OOAD + Coding: Got only 15 mins to do this coding question. I was able to give the solution in O(N) he expected better. Never saw in leetcode

Round 2:

  • 30+ min behavior questions
  • Coding Leet code hard question, I was able to give him the solution and this round went well. Interviewer seemed professional
  • Q&A 5-10 min

Lunch

Round 3: Manager
Interviewer Joined 5 mins late

  • 30+ min behavior questions

Manager was on rush as we don't have time and started system design I used draw.io

  • System design easy question but the manager was actually questioning on every single statement I utter. I was explaining trade off's and reason's for each of my statements but at one point of time he asked me 3 questions it was tough for me in that pressure moment to memorize his questions and explain in detail

I kind of got screwed in this round. I think my post my might help people to get prepared to handle those situations.

Round 4:

  • 30+ min behavior questions

  • Leetcode medium (in 20 min)

  • Q&A 5-10 min

Round 5: Bar Raiser

  • 60 mins LP. I did very well in this round as she was senior manager in data science asked few questions on my project and on data engineering stuff as well. Interviewer seemed very professional.

Result: Rejected

Overall experience:

  • I feel discussion with bar raiser and in the phone interview, Interviewers seemed very professional and positive.

Got rejected at OCI onsite, I was interviewed for senior applied scientist this feb, I got rejected because of not meeting behavior values of OCI. This time I prepared LP's hard and got rejected because I am from DS background and should have practised System design better.

Postion at FB is on hold. I kind of dissappointed from last few days because of the rejections I had from last few months

My Details

4 YOE as MLE tier 2 company.

My preparation:

  • Leetcode premium 20 easy, 25 medium and 15 Hard (I just practised the patterns)
  • DS and Algo ND(Udacity)
  • System design Scalability-system-design-for-developers
  • Pluralsight (Design Patterns course).
  • OOAD(Head first Book)
  • Literally I spent almost 40 hours from march 17 in preparing LP's because I thought if not L5 I will get L4 if my LP's are right. But manager mentioned he only want L5 not L4 at this moment(Indirectly). Regret that I should have vested that time in actually doing system design instead of reading book.

Last thoughts:

I think you guys can easily clear the coding rounds with the practise you have on leetcode. Thanks leetcode for getting me this far. Last sept it was tough even to work on arrays and linked lists for me. Looking at this amazing community I got motivated and was able to reach this far. My worry is that currently no company is as actively hiring as amazon. Should wait for the future and hope best happens.
