A recruiter contacted me, but I am not sure if it was through Naukri or LinkedIn. They informed me that I had applied on their platform, but I don't recall doing so. They wanted to schedule an interview for the next day, but I had prior commitments and couldn't make it. They mentioned that they only conduct interviews on Thursdays and Fridays when employees work from home due to their hybrid approach. Initially, I declined, but after an hour, I agreed to the interview on the following day.
MoEngage | Round 1 | DSA
I was asked to implement an LRU cache. I gave an approach and coded it. Initially, I was not getting the correct solution, but I coded the proper solution as we progressed. The first round ended at 4:30 PM, and they requested a second round just 30 minutes later. I asked for some time to prepare, and after some discussion, they agreed. I have scheduled the second round for next Thursday.
MoEngage | Round 2 | LLD
I was asked to provide a low-level design for an on-call management support tool similar to OpsGenie. The tool is needed to support multiple projects and employees, each with various levels of responsibility for responding to incidents. I first outlined the classes and methods I would use, and after the interviewer was satisfied with the class structure, I proceeded to write the code. Although I was only able to code 4-5 out of the 5-7 functionalities requested, the interviewer was happy with my overall performance..MoEngage | Round 3 | HM Round
During the interview, the interviewer asked me about the projects I was handling and what I had contributed to them. I was also asked a high-level design (HLD) question that I was unable to solve fully.
The question was about handling a stream of categories coming to an API or server, and then getting the unique categories from the stream and adding them to the current view so that the user can see the new category. I struggled with this question as I had never encountered it before. I provided a few solutions, but they were not what the interviewer was looking for.
As a result, this round did not go very well for me.After a few days, I received a call from HR informing me that the hiring manager's feedback indicated that they couldn't consider me for the SSE (Senior Software Engineer) role, but they would consider me for a Software Engineer role. Considering my current role and the learning opportunities at MoEngage, I agreed to this. I promptly sent them all the necessary documents they requested. However, the HR person became unresponsive and was not answering my calls. I contacted another HR contact who informed me that the original HR was on vacation and would release the offer letter upon returning. After two weeks of waiting and numerous calls, I was told that the offer letter was in the approval process. Another week later, they reached out to inform me that the position was on hold and promised to follow up in 1-2 weeks. After 7-10 days, I was informed that the position was open again and asked if I was willing to take it, to which I agreed. However, when the offer came, the base package was lower(21LPA) than what was initially discussed(25LPA), with no variable pay, stocks, and just a 1L signing bonus. Given my current remote work situation, accepting this offer would mean a pay cut, so I declined it.
