I got a chance to interview at Cloudera for Software Engineer (Golang). I applied on the careers page, and my interviews were scheduled. There were 2 rounds:
Round1 (DSA/OS/Experience)
There were 2 interviewers. One of them started asking me about my projects, enchancements that I could do there and explaining certain features.
Then he asked me a DSA question - https://leetcode.com/problems/3sum/description/
I gave 3 approaches in around 35 minutes, he was satisfied. Then he started asking me about multiple other internals in different data structures.
- How does set data structure works internally?
- How does HashMap works internally?
- What happens if there are collisions in 2 hashes in HashMap? If there would be, how would you store and retrieve it?
- ACID properties
- Deadlock
- Transactions in database
- Some linux commands
This interview went absolutely perfect, I answered all these questions well and I got call after 2 hours for my 2nd round of interview.
Round 2 (HM Round)
He came, asked some basic questions regarding my projects then gave me the following question to solve -
Given a sequence of events:
e1, e2, e3, ....
[e1:k1, e2:k2, e3:k1, e4: k3, e5: k2, e6: k4, e7: k1]

e2 <- e5 , e6
e4, e6
It was something like how kafka works. I was given a key and different events for a specific key, and those events have to be processed in the order they came based on the key.
I was asked to code in Golang, with using k threads.
I did the code with just 5 minutes remaining. The interviewer was really good, he kept giving me some hints and collaborated with my thinking on solving it.
In the end, he was satisfied and gave my information about the team I would join, the work they had.
Result
I followed up with the HR after 2 days. He kept delaying the result, giving me multiple dates.
It had been more than 1 month, I kept following up and he kept delaying it. He said there were only 2 candidates in the end, me and someone else. They have to choose 1 of us.
Then he gave me the update that i have been put ON-HOLD and they would contact me if something changes.
