I applied for a Full Stack Developer position (3+ yoe) and interviewed at SAP Labs India in August 2024. The entire process took around three weeks, from the first recruiter call to the final offer letter.

The interview process was as follows:

1. Round 1 [Technical, 60 mins]: This was an online round conducted on Microsoft Teams with a senior developer. It was mostly a problem-solving round with two easy-to-medium DSA problems—one involving a HashMap and the other involving two pointers. The expectation was to write and compile the code with manual test cases. I was able to solve both within the hour. HR called me immediately after the round to discuss the availability for the next rounds. The subsequent rounds took place at the SAP Bengaluru office.

2. Round 2 [Technical, 90 mins]: This was another technical round that covered Java, OOP principles, and DSA in depth. The interviewer asked everything from the basics to advanced concepts in Java, along with a few theoretical questions on OOP. At the end, she also asked me to solve two medium DSA questions, which I had to code on paper. This round went exceptionally well for me, and I was able to answer almost all of the questions. A few minutes later, I was informed that a managerial round would take place next.

3. Round 3 [Managerial and Technical, 60 mins]: This was primarily a managerial round with some technical questions based on my experience and resume. The manager was interested in understanding my current work in detail and my reasons for wanting to switch jobs. A few Java questions and a puzzle were also asked. I was able to answer most of the questions, and I was informed that the next round with the Director would take place in a few minutes.

4. Round 4 [Director, 45 mins]: This round was with the Director of the department. It was probably the easiest and interesting round so far, where we discussed my background, my expectations from the new job, the team, and their expectations from the new hire. The Director was very laid-back, and we had a good conversation. After the round, they asked me to wait for further information from HR.

5. Round 5 [Technical, 45 mins]: Two days later, I received a call from HR stating that the feedback was positive and asking for my availability for a cross-LOB (Line of Business) round. This round took place the day after the call and was conducted online. The interviewer was a senior developer and, to my surprise, mostly asked questions about frontend development, likely because of my little experience in that area. There were a few JavaScript questions, some framework-related questions, and finally, one medium DSA problem. Apart from solving the DSA question, I felt my overall performance was just okay. Fortunately, I cleared this round and was invited for the HR round the next day.

6. Round 6 [HR, 30 mins]: Finally, after five rounds, I hoped this would be the last one. It was a virtual interview where the HR representative asked about me, my family, my interests outside of work, and to explain my work in layman's terms. He seemed friendly, and the round went well. There was no discussion about salary.

Three to four days after the HR round, I received a draft offer letter, and upon accepting it, I received the final offer letter in the next 3-4 days.

Overall, it was a good experience for me—although a bit lengthy, it was worth the wait.
