Meta Production Engineering New Grad Interview Experience

Hey everyone, I recently went through the Meta Production Engineering New Grad interview process, and I wanted to share my experience to help others prepare.

Round 1: Online Assessment (Linux and Networking MCQ)
Duration: ~18 minutes
Content: The first round was a multiple-choice question (MCQ) test focusing on Linux and networking concepts. The questions covered a range of topics, from basic networking protocols to Linux command-line utilities. It was pretty fast-paced, so make sure you brush up on your fundamentals.
Round 2: Phone Screen
This round was divided into two parts:

**PE (Production Engineering) Round
**
Duration: 45 minutes
Content: This round was focused on OS, networking, and system design. The interviewer asked a mix of theoretical and practical questions. Some of the topics included process management, networking protocols, and basic system design concepts. I felt that I fumbled a bit during this round, especially with some of the system design questions, which might have affected my overall performance.

**DSA (Data Structures and Algorithms) Round

**Duration: 45 minutes
Content: This round consisted of two coding questions:
Balanced Parentheses: A fairly standard problem that I was able to solve without much trouble.
CSV File Reading and String Manipulation: This question involved reading data from a CSV file and performing basic string manipulation. Again, I managed to solve it 100% correctly within the time frame.

Unfortunately, I was rejected after the phone screen. Even though I solved both coding questions in the DSA round correctly, I believe my performance in the PE round wasn't as strong as it needed to be.

Final Thoughts
If you're preparing for the Meta Production Engineering role, make sure you're solid on OS and networking concepts, and practice system design scenarios as well. The DSA questions were straightforward, but the PE round can be quite challenging, so be well-prepared for that.

Good luck to everyone!
