My onsite interview with Amazon (my first on-site with any FAANG)

I was scheduled to go to their office , but the interview took place virtually due to COVID-19.

My experience was pleasant , though a full day . I had 5 interviews with 7 people interviewing me in total.

First was behavioral round alone , was by manager of the team I was interviewing for. She was kind but through. She asked me lot of behavioral questions and my experience. I have networking background and she told me that she had some concerns that I don’t have much product background like others in team . I was a bit sad hearing this but brushed it aside.

2nd interviewer joined the call moments later with a shadow interviewer, it was a systems design interview. I am guessing it was the bar raiser , but I can’t really say! I had 2 interviews from members of other team , so I really dunno! He asked me a design question . And I answered. I answered all the questions he asked and at the end second interviewer asked me a couple of questions, I did answer that as well. I was happy with this interview

Third set of 2 guys joined the call when these were still on. Third was again behavioral and a coding challenge based on strings . First code I answered quickly so he gave a follow up , which I gave a brief overview ( but I thought the second question I wrote really bad code.. because of time lag n couldn’t get best solution)

Lunch break

After lunch , 4th interview : behavioral + coding challenge . The coding callenge was on trees . Some challenges . He asked if I could make it simplistic , I showed some ideas but it could be better , but since we were running out of time , and I dint come up with better solution quickly , he gave another question on trees which i answered quickly , then he asked another and asked time to give a verbal approach since I had 3 mins left , I gave him one n he said ok I trust u can code and asked me if I had any questions which I asked

5th behavioral + codingCache implementation but made it difficult by asking specific way of design n not LRU . I was able to do it . If not perfectly atleast in a way he expected. He seemed happy .
All interviewers asked me to ask them questions at end . All interviews had atleast 20 min of behavioral interviews if not more .
I have a good feeling about my interviews except 1st (because of not being a good fit past experience wise) and 3rd(because of spegatti code for second problem) . I dunno what the results will be but hoping for the best.

YOE: 6 years

All my interviewers were highly experienced with 8 years + of software development experience in them even otherwise (except the 3rd set)
All my calls extended beyond the scheduled time sometimes stretching 10 minutes into other calls or lunch breaks or evenings.

I dont know what went wrong . May be technical ??

and recruiter said they definitely wanna interview me again but after an year !! it was disappointing .. does this mean i wait an year ? or can i apply sooner ?
