I recently applied for an SDE (Fullstack) role at Postman through a referral and was contacted by a recruiter after two weeks. The process consisted of four rounds:

Round 1 (Recruiter connect):
This was a phone screening with the recruiter. She asked questions related to my experience and expertise in various technologies. After this, my profile was shortlisted for the HM round.

Round 2 (HM Connect) :
This round was with a manager. I was asked questions about web technologies, such as how a browser works and some basic CSS questions. We also discussed backend system design and scalability. The manager tested my basic understanding of both frontend and backend technologies.

Round 3 (Technical Knowledge) :
In this round, I spoke with an SDE-2 who had 4 years of experience. The focus was on my projects. I was asked many questions related to event-driven architecture, as most of my work revolved around that. I also discussed REST APIs, designing a scheduling service, and dived deep into indexing and sharding. Overall, this round went really well, and I was moved to the next round.

Round 4 (Machine Coding):
This round was again with SDE-2. I was tasked with coding a URL shortener. We initially discussed the problem statement. I presented my approach and started coding in Node.js. I encountered a bit of a challenge, but after receiving a hint, I was able to solve it fully and write working code. We tested the API in Postman and discussed potential improvements and scalability. Overall, it was a good round.

After two days, I received an email from HR saying that they would not move forward with my application because the role was more frontend-focused, whereas my major experience was in backend development. I am a bit disappointed, but I think it was a great learning experience.
