Role: SDE1 (Applied for SDE2 but only get SDE1)
Location: Seattle
Interview date: March 2020
Degree: Phd in engineering
Years of Exp: 4 years

I started using leetcode to learn Data Structure and Algorithm around 2 years ago. I still remember at the begining I couldn't even understand the questions. Most of the time I have to read the discussion to be able to understand the solution. Then I read the book: Data structure and Algorithm for Python. It was really helpful. I solved for about 250 questions.
Then I started learning Machine learning and stop learning from leetcode.
After I got greencard and got a recuiter from amazon contacted me, I started reviewing leetcode again. So I solve another 100 questions and mostly review the questions I solved. I also learn System design from *** the System Design Interview. Finally today I got a phone call saying I passed for SDE1. I couldn't pass for SDE2 because of the system design part but hey, I dont have much experience anyway.
I wanted to write this post to encourage everyone (especially without degree in CS ) to find a job in Big Tech. If I can do it, you can do it. I also passed it for the first attempt (my first interview).

My timeline:

  • phone call around mid January.
  • OA end of January
  • Virtual Interview early Feb
  • Onsite in March however changed to 4 Virtual Interview because of COV19

GO EVERYONE, AGAIN, IF I CAN DO IT, YOU ALSO CAN.
