Hi all!
I just had an on-site interview in Cupertino for SDE position and want to share my experience.
As usual, it was an all-day interview. There were 6 or 7 interviewers one after another and in general 4 tasks.
Most interviewers were positive.
But one interviewer left an extremely negative impression. It was a woman (she said that previously she worked for Google). Once she came, I have got a coding task. It was the fourth task on that day, and I felt tired, but I have provided some solution (not so brilliant). She said really arrogant "And that is all?!". After that, she said despairingly "What is your university major? Oh.. you do not hold a computer science degree...".
And it killed me. I did provide in the resume that I hold an economics degree, I did not hide it. Why they invite me to the interview if my major does not fit? Yes, I did not study at Stanford.
I felt lost after that and did not know how to continue the interview.
But it was not the end. She found a link in my resume to my GitHub account and said: "it is not your code, is not?". Lol. Does she think I will provide a link to a fake GitHub account?
So, as you know I failed. Moreover, now I feel like I'm not worthy to work at such a company like Apple because my parents did not have opportunities to pay for computer science degrees. I am happy because of that woman's parents had such a possibility, good for her.
Please, if someone of you works for Apple please do not be arrogant and don't humiliate candidates - they also just people and you may be in the same position.
