Status: ~2 year of Experience in well known Finance firm
Position: SDE

I was preparing for interviews from mid November, I used thanksgiving, christmas holidays and new years for the prep as things are little cooler at work. Around mid Janaury, Recruiter mailed asking if I am interested in SDE role at Amazon, I responded positively as I was close to 200 LC questions and felt I was ready.

After OA, I was scheduled for interviews in next 3 weeks. I prepared LP questions with nine stories and had them molded into more than one LP.

Round 1: 20 mins LP + question on visitor design pattern
This was really unexpected for me, I come from infrastructure engineering, I was completley off guard. I was prepared for coding questions and this question is something that can be answered only if you had known before or have studied design patterns extensively. I was felt really bad as I was not at all prepared for this type of questions.

I did not even know the existance of visitor design pattern till then, I code at my work, but not extensively using design pattern , hence this round was utter disaster.

round 2: Hiring manager. LP + system design
I felt I did pretty well. Even interviewer said he liked my answers for LP questions. standard system design, something close to a chat system

round 3: bar raiser: LP+coding
LP questions it self took 20 mins, I had 20 mins left for coding question and explaining my approach to it
I was asked serialization of N-ry tree. I solved it via lever order traversal, interviewer asked me to code up the answer, I was little short of time and I was not able to complete the full code

round 4: LP + system design
I was asked to design redis system, I had kown this design and it was the best round of all

Overall thoughts: I was asked 2 system design, 1 on design pattern and one round on algorithms. Experience was opposite to what I was expecting, I was expecting more LC questions. But these things happen in life, I learnt to expect something out of normal. Somewhere in the corner I am sad as my Leetcode effort was not so useful for the actual interview.

I have learnt a lot in the past 3 months on this platform, I have learnt to be resilient. I have not heard back from my recruiter, but I know I wont clear the interview. I am off to learning design pattern for next one month, I know it will help me in my next interviews and in my career.
