Conquering Siemens: My Graduate Trainee Engineer Journey
Hey everyone, I am here to share my on-campus experience interviewing for the Graduate Trainee Engineer position at Siemens! It was a process filled with challenges and triumphs, and I am here to tell you all about it.

The Gauntlet Begins: Online Assessment
The first hurdle was the online assessment on HackerEarth. It tested my knowledge across various areas, including:

• Aptitude: Puzzles, profit/loss, simple/compound interest, probability, speed/distance/time problems, etc.
• Coding: Two medium-level coding challenges on HackerEarth, dealing with strings, bit manipulation, and dynamic programming (DP). These required a solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.

The Big Interview: A Technical & HR Mashup
To my surprise, the interview process consisted of a single, combined technical and HR session. It took at their office in Pune and lasted for about an hour covering a range of topics:

• Deep dive into my resume: They dug into my projects and previous experiences, asking detailed questions to understand my skills and thought processes.
• Database design challenge: I was asked to draw the database structure for one of my projects, showcasing my ability to model data relationships.
• User experience focus: They inquired about the importance of user experience (UX) and how I could improve it in specific scenarios.
• Situation-based questions: Here, they threw hypothetical situations at me to gauge my problem-solving skills and approach. Unfortunately, these specific questions are a bit hazy at this point.
• HR basics: Finally, they covered standard HR questions to get a sense of my personality, career aspirations, and fit within the company culture.

The Sweet Reward: Offer Acceptance!
After a nerve-wracking wait of two weeks, the fantastic news arrived - I received the offer! This experience was a valuable journey, pushing me to refine my technical skills, showcase my project knowledge, and demonstrate my problem-solving approach under pressure.
If you're aiming for a similar role, my advice is to:

• Practice coding challenges: Platforms like LeetCode can be your training ground for tackling coding problems efficiently.
• Brush up on your fundamentals: Aptitude and data structures form the foundation, so ensuring a strong grasp is crucial.
• Prepare for diverse scenarios: Be ready to answer situational questions, highlighting your thought process and problem-solving skills.
• Know your projects inside out: Be prepared to discuss your projects in detail, showcasing your technical abilities and thought processes used during development.
