Recently in November, I interviewed at Adobe. Although the tech interview experience was good, but post the offer, the HR made my life hell.
Here's all the details:
- In October, I got referred by my friend of friend at Adobe.
- In November 2nd week, I get call from Adobe HR (Let's call her Female HR-1).
- The first 2 rounds were conducted within November, while for the next 2 rounds, HR postponed it week after week with some weird excuses.
- By 15th December, I finished all my interview rounds, and on 18th December, I get call from another HR (Female HR-2) about the offer. She asked about my expectations, on which I clearly told certain numbers below which I won't join.
- Got a Teams call conducted for 21st December, where Female HR-2 was present but another Male HR also joined who led the call. Apparently all the numbers guy started putting were below the expectations I had already mentioned. When I showed reluctance as why coming up with lower numbers when I already provided the clarity on my numbers, the guy started beating around the bush, saying they want the lowest numbers on which I can join. (I have no idea what he even meant with this sentence). Well, again I explained that the numbers I had told were actually the minimum on which I would come. There was no need of this meeting. To which, the male HR says that he will discuss it with the comp team and come back to me within an hour.
- An hour gone, a day gone, but no response. After that, the Adobe Shut down started during which nobody at Adobe is supposed to work. So, I get the next call from them on 4th Jan. The guy just raised the stocks part to the point where I was okay. The base part was still below my expectation. They sent me the offer letter as well. I showed reluctance to which, they said thats the best they can get.
- When I didn't accept the offer, they started nudging my referrer to convince me to accept their offer.
- With all this headache for 2 months, on ~10th Jan, I just thought of not negotiating further. Since the offer letter had the joining date of 4th Feb, I asked them to change the joining date in the offer letter first as I had not resigned from my current company and I had to serve a 1 month notice period. Again, the HR started playing some weird game. He said if they send this unsigned offer letter to get updated, the approval will take longer, but if it is signed and only the joining date is to be changed, it will be easier. I didn't want any more headache so I simply signed the letter and asked to do the needful.
- Didn't receive any update from their end, I tried contacting and he said I have to show the resignation proof to get the joining date changed. I was like why they didn't need it for the first draft which I signed. It all felt so weird. My Background verification was also not completed yet (Yes, been a month since I started it but it was still in process), so I told him that I want to resign once my Background Verification successfully finishes. This irked him as if I didn't wanna join or what.. He wrote to me on Whatsapp that my case is sent to the "Business" stating that the candidate has not resigned yet. I don't know what he meant by Business there.
- 5 days gone, no reply. So I tried contacting. I wrote to him "I have resigned now", to which he replied that my offer is revoked now as they didn't hear from me for 5 days. Like Whattttt... aren't you supposed to intimate me first before revoking it. The thing was pending on you, not me, so I was actually expecting to hear from them not the other way around. Not just that, he told lies to the hiring manager and my referrer about all this. There was no transparency. The worst part is - he revoked the offer letter completely, not just the date change request. I don't know what this guy wanted from me. Maybe he just wanted me to resign from my current company and eventually wanted to revoke Adobe offer as well.
This is the worst experience I ever faced.
Some very unprofessional things Adobe HRs demonstrated -
- They always contacted over Whatsapp. Apart from the first ever mail with which the interview started, I never received a single mail from them.
- They barely replied to me. To get one reply, I had to call/text them at least 5 times.
- At some points, I even saw the "This message has been deleted" whatsapp thingy from them. How unprofessional can you become that you send the message and then delete it.
- At one point, I was in a meeting in my company and this male HR called me, I replied to him that I am in a meeting, to which he replied that he won't call me again if I don't pick his phone right away no matter what situation I was in.
- There wasn't a single text from him which didn't have basic English Grammar issues.
I wonder if there is some way to take legal action against this HR. He literally played with my mental health by giving me headache for 2 months and then making me resign from my current company and leaving me unemployed.

Update:
Thanks for all this support. After reading a comment about reaching out to recruiters about this, I tried mailing other recruiter, but she simply tried to delegate it to this cheap HR person again. And when I replied back that I wanted to talk to her only, she simply ignored. Screenshot:
