Hi, wanted to share me experience with Booking.com in Amsterdam. I applied online.

• Round 1: HackerRank test - there were two questions - one SQL based - write a query with some tricky joins. Another one is coding: related to aggregation of some data with hotels.
• Round 2: video call with HR - standard questions regarding why I want to work there, self-intro, discuss of what to expect in terms of salary and type of work.
• Round 3: Live coding with their engineers: medium leet code question I would say, something random on hotel data - aggregating, windowing. Its important to discuss what you are doing and why - but no big pressure. In the end its also beneficial if code at least runs. I would not say I was great - my code worked but the problem was not completely solved but interviewer said that it was Ok.
• Round 4: Design - here it was with a couple of engineers - the question was around designing a system which would store data about hotels, and this system should be good enough for querying in batch and real time. They also asked about technologies which I would use - be prepared to answer how you would deploy this, which database will be most optimal, how users will interact with your solution, clarify along the way. It was a nice talk.
• Round 5 On the next day after design interview I got email that they would like to proceed with Hiring manager interview. And here actually the fun started - they started to postpone interview, first they scheduled it on one date, then postponed for 2 weeks, then for 1 week more, and then again for 3 weeks. In the end we had a final round which literally happened after 2 months from the date when they said they would like to proceed.
  Conversation was nice, I was asked a lot of questions about behavior - which I more or less answered. I dont think its possible to prepare for anything like that. What would you do in case of conflict etc, what if somebody is doing something really wrong, how do you handle different opinion about something? I would say it was fine, but apparently they didnt like something but they never told me what. So after a couple of days recruiter told me that they picked up somebody else for that role and offered to continue interviewing for another team but for a lower position and as a result lower salary expectations - I didnt agree.
