2nd technical phone screen (45 mins):

• Compute the tax amount given salary and tax brackets
• Matrix walking question

They have called me to London for onsite interviews.

Onsite (4 rounds):

• Behavioral round

  • Normal questions around how to operate in a team and project related questions.
  • Add two strings

• DS and Algos round 1

  • Range sum 2D variation
  • x^n

• DS and Algos round 2

  • Move all zeros to end - variations related to less number of writes
  • Remove minimum paranthesis to make string valid

• Design Round

  • Design facebook checkin feature

Thoughts :

I have prepared all the facebook previous questions(previous 6 months questions) in Leetcode and that was more than enough for the coding interviews.

For the behavioural interviews, think of all the potential questions you might be asked and prepare before the interview. Directly thinking in the interview might be difficult.

For the system design, I have used System desing videos by Gaurav Sen(), Tech Dummies( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn1XnDWhsLS5URXTi5wtFTA) and grokking the system desing( https://www.educative.io/courses/grokking-the-system-design-interview). These resources were really helpful and most of the design concepts and patterns can be learnt.

Result:

The interviewer mailed me the same day that my interviews went well. Next day he invited me to their office and discussed the feedback in detail. I got feedback mentioning I was fit for IC5(mainly in the system design interview) but I was never going to get IC5 with 1.25 years experience.

I insisted on getting a IC4(E4) position as I had great interview feedback which I was later given the same day after the discussions.
