Akuna Capital | Python Junior Developer New Grads 2020 | Chicago | Nov 2019 [Reject]
Status: New grad, BS CS Top 100 CS school
Position: Python Junior Developer
Location: Chicago
Date: Nov 2019
- Applied online in late October and received a coding challenge a week later
- Coding challenge: 160 minutes with 3-4 coding questions plus around 10 Multiple choice problems. Coding questions were not hard, probably around Leetcode Easy or easy LC Medium. Most of the multiple choice questions are really easy and are mostly just OOP questions, but there were a couple one that were Operating System related and I thought they were kind of challenging
- Technical Phone screen (30 minutes): after completing the coding challenge (did not get all the questions right), received an email a week later to move forward for a technical phone screen. Since it was a python position, they first asked me to talk about a python project that I did, then it was a series of python related questions. They expect you to know almost everything about python (garbage collection in python, generator, with keyword, decorator, deep copy/shallow copy, inheritance/abstractions/encapsulation, etc). They usually started up asking you to explain how it works in python and then follow up with more advanced questions related to that topic. For example they asked me how deep/shallow copy works, then proceed to ask me if the element is a list vs if the element is a tuple, etc. No coding in this round, just a lot of questions about how things work in Python
- Did not get the onsite but I've heard the next round is an onsite in their Chicago Office. I received my rejection letter in about 3 days
