I recently went through the interview process of Apple Munich for Embedded Software Engineer Position. I have more than 1 YOE.
I applied through the careers portal , and about 2 weeks later I got the mail for hiring manager round.
HIRING MANAGER ROUND(virtual):
A very nice and interesting round for 45 mins. Manager first explained his team's role and the process and next steps. The interview was divided in technical and non-technical questions.
we started with the technical questions:
Semaphore vs Mutex?
Difference layers of 4g and 5g , how do they differ? whats new in 5g?
carrier aggregation concept and which layer does it affect?
Explain all layers in details
What is the main role of RLC layer?
And some other questions are related to communication engineering in general.
No live coding in this round.
non-tech questions:
when can you start?
explain a bad situation with your team members and how you resolved it`?
explain a mistake you did at work and how you fixed it?
And so on
The manager was very nice and communicative, and he made sure I was comfortable in the interview wholethroughout.
I was selected after the first one.
Now the second interview (the bad part, for me, 1 hr):
for a role in Munich, this interview was taken by someone from US. The interviewer did not seem very friendly and started with in depth questions about semaphore vs mutex and OS Concepts. No introduction here.
He then started the coderpad:
Implement a linkedlist, insert at head, and then reverse it (I did not expect that Apple will ask this for a Embedded role!, nonetheless , I tried and reached somewhere but not what he was looking for)
Second question was easier and expected, Bit manipulation, set and get bits basically.
The interviewer was doing something else all the time and was not communicating at all in the coderpad round. This round could have been better (both from my side and interviewer side)
after 2 weeks, I got the rejection mail. #Apple #AppleInterview #EmbeddedSoftwareEngineerInterview #EmbeddedSoftwareEngineer
