Recent grad from top 20 CS school, experience as research assistant at school, no internship experience.

  1. Hackkerank challenge - Question was a DFS question to find distance to other nodes.
  2. Technical phone interview - Top K Frequent Words
  3. Onsite, 4 rounds - There are 2 behavorial and 2 technical rounds. Each are themed as teamwork, individual, system design and coding
    a. Teamwork interview - Asked questions regarding past teamwork, resolving conflicts, making decisions. Focused a lot on taking and giving criticism.
    b. Individual - general interview focusing on past projects and asking small questions about what could've been better etc.
    c. System design - Design a system so Yelp users can download their data (including posted photos and reviews). Discuss tradeoffs, technologies you would use, etc.
    d. Coding - For two sets A and B, find |A ∩ B| / |A ⋃ B|. A ⋃ B means combined distinct elements in both sets.
    |A| means cardinality of set A, meaning the number of elements in set A.

Got a standard rejection after a week. Remarks: Overall nice experience with all interviewers but one. The system design person did not gave any expression to my answers, which kinda weired me out. Also asked very few followup question. Since the question is open ended, it was hard to figure out what to answer next.
The person in the coding round asked a followup question but did not provide an exact definition about the concept, maybe to test me how I think outside the box.
