I had my interview with AWS last Friday for a potential summer 2023 sde internship. The internship went very well and I could tell that the interviewer was very happy with my performance. I was also pretty satisfied with my answers.
This Thursday, I received a letter from my recruiter saying that unfortunately they can not offer me the position. He didn't say why. However, because I performended well on the interveiw, he said that if new opportunites came up, I could be considered for the positions within the next three months or so without having to complete another interview.
I was very depressed and upset at this point becasue I really thought I had this. A recruiter reached out to me about this position, they scheduled the OA and interview so fast I felt like they are really trying to hire someone. I don't know what to think about this, and I don't know what to respond to the recruiter.
This year has been very tough for me. I had four rounds with Apple's OS team and got rejected, three rounds with Sigma Computing, two rounds with KLA, one round with Amazon. (In my opinion) my performances were pretty good in all interviews (except for the final round with Apple, they asked me question that I have completely no idea and never heard of). However, I was not able to land any of them.
I'm very exhausted at this point. I'm a graduate student. The course works are already extremely heavy. Plus so many rounds of interviews, I don't know if I have anything else to give... It's like god's plan, and I can't break it no matter how hard I tried.
If anyone has any previous experiecne with dealing with this kind of situations with AWS/Amazon, please let me know. I really appriciate any suggestions and opinions. I'm not sure if Amazon is hiring summer internships at all at this point, but I don't want to give up. "What if there's another team that is hiring? what if for once, fortune is on my favor?" I always ask myself.
Again, if anyone knows if there's any summer opportunity offered at AWS or Amazon at all, please let me know (other comanies as well, although the chances are probably very slim). I really can't appriciate enough of your help.
If there's anything that I have learned, it is that sometimes we have to fight through the darkness. Life is hard, but we need to get our shit together. This is what life is all about.
