Current Status: Software Developer at Etisalat Misr
Position: Solutions Engineer at Facebook
Location: London, UK
Date: May 22, 2019
The whole process took around a month from the time the recruiter reached out untill the onsite. Everything I went through was as follows:
- Recruiter reaching out via email then a 30 minutes phone call to discuss the position
- A call with the manager (30 minutes - 1 hour) to talk about
- My current position
- Why I'm interested and suitable for the position
- More details about the role
- Technical phone screening (around an hour)
- 1 coding question
- Time for me to ask questions
- An hour later I got an email from the recruiter to arrange the on-site then we had a call to discuss all the details and the needed preparations
- The on-site interview consisted of 4 interviews
- Business cross-function (30 minutes)
- It was a non-technical interview where it was all about situations and examples of things that happened at work and how I reacted to them
- System design (45 minutes)
- I was asked to design an app and approach everything about it
- There's no solid structure on how this interview goes like. It mainly depends on the interviewee and how he drives the conversation
- Integration (1 hour)
- This interview was a role-specific one
- I was asked to code an app that integrates with a Facebook product
- Technical Focus Interview (1 hour)
I heard back from them around a week later. There wasn't much details given in the feedback (which was a bit frustrating) but the overall experience was very positive. Starting from the preparations and the given materials to the planning and the travel arrangements to the office and the friendliness of everyone over there. I would definitely apply again!
