I would like to share my interview experience with Amazon for the Data Engineer Role:

Phone screen:

Techinal Round 1:

• I was asked some 3 tricky SQL questions but were easy to solve. - Windows Function , CTE and subquery
• 1 python question on reading python file find the maximum time repeated word
• 1 Data Modeling use case where given the problem of come up with fact and dimension tables.

Cleared the interview and was called for virtual onsite round.

Virtual Onsite:
Each round had 3 to 4 leadership principle and one dedicated Bar Raiser round on leadership principle.

Techinal Round 2:

• Questions on Database concepts ,query performace ,handling huge data volume and build scalable ETL piepline.
• Design ETL pipeline for the given problem.
• Easy python 1 queston.

Technical round 3:

• Data Modeling round for the given scenario create a data model.
• They wanted me to design from the scratch and constantly you have to let them know what you are doing and why you are doing the same.
• A sql question based on the model i have designed.
• Lot of questions on Data modeling concepts.

Round 4 - Bar Raiser Round:

• Four to 5 leadership principle and lot of follow u questions on the same.

Technical Round 5:

• Complex SQL - source table dosent have proper data.
• Basically we have to think and create the SQL.
• It was little tough but could resolve it.
• 2 python easy questions.
• ETL design and ELT design approaches and testing for maintaining the data integrity.

Technical Round 6:

• I had a round with hiring manager who was asking about my prior experience.
• The questions were based on my prior experience.
• A lot of follow up questions on my projects.
• The design apporach how best it could be done when you think now and what approaches you would use to make the best product.

Over all the experience was really good . I was able to answer all of them . Its was quite hard but have prepared for almost a month so didnt get suprised at the interview. Solving leetcode and hacker problems were helpful.

**Tip : Please revisit your entire experience and try to practise for leadership principles in STAR format. If you are regularly using SQL and python then quite easy to resolve those problems. Keep refreshing your basics DB concepts,performance tuning and query optimzation.
