I gave my Pinterest onsite interview on June 30 and it ended up in reject.

Each interview length is about 45 minutes except the system design which was about 1 hr
Onsite consisted of 5 rounds.

• 1 behavioural
• 1 system design

Onsite experience

1. Given a board and a start point can you reach the end of the board. The board is an array where each element of the array denotes number of exact steps you can take either left or right.
   For ex:
   board = [1,2,2,2,6,1], start=0 output=true
   follow up question was minimum number of steps you will take to reach. Approached the question with a BFS manner and solved in like 25 minutes with TC and SC.

2. Given list of courses and its prerequisites find the order in which you can complete or take this courses. Similar to Course Schedule 2. Its a topological sort.
   Explained the approach and how to detect a cycle in such situation and coded the solution took me about 35 minutes to code as interviewer was continously talking to me and I couldn't concentrate while I was coding he was trying to help by pointing about my unsued variables and all. The interviewer did not come up with test cases so it took me some time to create additional test cases.

3. Hiring Manager Round: This was a havioural interview where I was asked about my past experience, projects and team dynamics and how pintesrest interests me.

4. System Design: Like anyother system design round was asked to design a Autocomplete feature for Pinterest. Talked about microservice architecture, scaling numbers and some trendy things but I guess I performed average or less than that in the round.

5. It was adhoc question about iterating over elements. This question was not similar to regular LC where you care about coding style or algo you just complete it by hook or crook. I did pretty well as the interviewer said he was impressed with the solution I provided and was not the regular solution that he has seen.

Overall Experience: I would say all were LC medium questions and I solved all them with followups and explained the TC and SC except the system design where I felt I could have done better.

Result: Three days later they send me an email saying that they are rejecting me saying that they could not gauge much technical depth. So not sure what they are looking but yeah I am goona keep trying until I get that Pinterest offer.
