About me:

  • 2022 Grad
  • Tier 3 college
  • Information Technology
  • Have Practiced DSA for more than 1 year.

How I applied:

  • Applied for 6 months internship role in October 2021, received the test link and cleared the test.
  • Amazon didn't call me for interview till Jan 2022 and then considered me for full time SDE-1 role.

Online Assesment-

  • Two Medium level DSA problems, couldn't actually recall the questions but one was based on priority queue and other was of tree.

Round 1:

  • This round was scheduled in Feb, 2022.
  • Interviewer starts with his introduction and asked about mine. And then asked 2 DSA questions and expected to write production level code.
  • Question 1 was Detecting cycle in linkedlist and then removing it.
  • Question 2 was Sort 012 array.
This round was quite easy and interviewer was very supportive.

Round 2:

  • This round was scheduled after 1 week.
  • Again same process as pervious one, only 2 dsa questions.
  • Question 1 was Container with most water (asked 2 approaches and told to code anyone)
  • Question 2 was Spiral Matrix.
This round was easy-medium for me.

After Round 2 Amazon took 3 months in scheduling my next round.

Round 3:

  • Interviewer was a Software Development Manager and started with his introduction followed by mine. Then he asked about my current and previous works and companies. And then some behavrioual questions, I can't recall mine but it was something related to, Mention about a time when you over-delivered from some one expectations and other was Mention about a time when you failed.
  • Then he asked me 1 DSA cum desiging question because only 30 mins was left. Question was Serialize and Deserialize Binary Tree.
I struggled a bit in the question but interviewer was supportive and then I solved this one with 10 mins remaning.

After a week I got an email from amazon that I am selected for SDE-1 role.

Advice:

  • Always communicate your thoughts with the interviewer. It's okay if you don't know the question just show the interviewer you are trying and just a step behind, they will probably help you.
  • Always ask some questions to your interviewer at the end.

If you are seeing this before an Interview, I wish you all the best💕 :-)
For everyone, It's grind season, always give your best shot❤️.
